Abstracts
The TOGA ASM Local Organising Committee (LOC) invites all individuals and teams within the TOGA community to submit an abstract/s for inclusion in the program. Abstracts may be submitted as an oral or poster on topics relevant to lung cancer or mesothelioma and aligned to one of the submission categories outlined in the Abstract Submission Guidelines.
Play an active part in the scientific program and go into the running for the Best Poster or New Investigator Award.

Abstract FAQs
What type of presentations can I submit?
There are two (2) types of presentation opportunities available:
- Poster Presentation
Accepted abstract authors will be invited to bring a Static Poster to be displayed in the meeting venue as well as submit the Poster in
electronic format for the poster session.
- Oral Presentation
Selected abstract authors may also be invited to present an oral presentation as part of the main program.
IMPORTANT: Individuals may only submit ONE (1) abstract for oral presentation as the first author. Any additional abstracts submitted thereafter by the same author will be considered for poster presentation.
What submission categories can I submit to?
.Abstracts must fit at least one (1), and up to three (3) of the submission categories:
- Biomarkers, Genetics/Bioinformatics
- Clinical Trials in Progress
- Diagnosis and Screening
- Epidemiology
- Health Services Research, Care Delivery, Clinical Trial Access, and Policy
- Imaging
- Improving the Patient Experience
- Innovations in Thoracic Cancer Care
- Medical Oncology Interventions
- Nursing and Allied Health
- Palliative Care/Symptom Management
- Pathology
- Radiation Oncology
- Risk Factors and Prevention Including Smoking Cessation
- Surgery
- Survivorship
- Thoracic Cancer Biology and Novel Targets
What awards are on offer for abstracts?
The following awards will be available for successful abstract presentations.
Best Poster Award
The Best Poster Award is available to an applicant/s who presents the highest quality poster subject to the following criteria:
- Content
- Organisation and layout
- Design
New Investigator Award
The New Investigator Award will be awarded to the highest quality oral presentation by a New Investigator subject to the following criteria:
- Content
- Organisation
- Verbal presentation
- Response to questions
How do I submit an abstract?
- Read the abstract submission guidelines. This is to ensure your submission adheres to the guidelines. Submissions that do not meet the requirements of these guidelines will be asked to revise.
- Create an account.
- Fill in the abstract submission form. All abstracts must be submitted using the abstract submission form.
- Complete and submit your Abstract by 24 April 2026. Abstracts received after the given deadline are not likely to be considered.
What is the review process?
- All submissions will be reviewed by the TOGA ASM Local Organising Committee (LOC). Each abstract will be assessed against the criteria outlined in the abstract submission guidelines.
- The ASM Convenor serves as head of the LOC and will make the final decision on which abstracts are accepted. Every effort will be made to accommodate the author(s) presentation preference; however, the LOC reserves the right to allocate presentation to best suit the overall balance of content.
- Successful applicants will be notified by late May 2026. All correspondence relating to the submission will be directed to the corresponding author who is responsible for the abstract content, and they should in turn be responsible for disseminating all relevant information to co-authors.
