Sara Ramella is Professor of Radiation Oncology at Campus Bio-Medico University, Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio-Medico, Rome, Italy. She is also a member of the Scientific Board for the PhD Course in Artificial Intelligence – Health & Life Sciences. Prof Ramella trained at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Fondazione Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli IRCCS in Rome.
Her clinical and research interests focus on lung cancer treatment, particularly the integration of radiotherapy with chemotherapy, targeted therapies and immunotherapy. She has a strong interest in personalised medicine and the application of radiomics in Non–Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC).
With more than 17 years of academic experience, Prof Ramella has an international teaching experience collaborating with European Society of Radiation Oncology for Lung Cancer Teaching Courses. She currently coordinates the ESTRO Lung Cancer Guidelines subgroup and serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Thoracic Oncology. Her research emphasises practical clinical applications, including the development of Radiomics-based Decision Support Systems (RDSSs) to improve outcomes in patients undergoing chemoradiation. Her efforts have been recognized by the University Strategic Project 2019 Award for the project “A Collaborative Multi-Sources RadioPathomics Approach for Personalized Oncology in NSCLC”.
